Since its founding several decades ago, Temp-Prop has executed the vision to always be an important player in the Power Generation industry—including the Renewable Energy field.
In fact, Temp-Pro actively produces and markets sensors for renewable energy applications to include solar thermal, renewable steam, biomass fueled, hydroelectric, and wind turbines.
Despite fossil fuels’ influential role in the generation of electricity, renewables continue to grow and secure a place in the global energy industry—and waste-to-energy remains a strong contributor within the diverse number of renewable energy sources currently in use.
Temp-Pro serves the Renewable Energy industry with dedicated and customized solutions that include the production and installation of RTDs, thermometers, thermowells, thermocouples, and other related temperature-sending devices.
Waste-to-energy power generation takes a virtually unlimited supply municipal solid waste—known by its acronym of MSW—from residential and commercial trash collection and is then incinerated and converted into thermal energy.
The initial stage of the waste-to-energy process begins with MSW being delivered to a storage bunker and is then transferred to a combustion chamber where it is burned at extremely high temperatures.
Garnering the thermal energy produced by the combustion, the heat then boils water in pipes used to produce steam, which is then fed into a turbine generator that converts it into electric power.
In the next stage of the process the electricity is used to heat a plant or transferred to the grid for consumption—but there’s more to the process still. The gas produced is filtered through air pollution equipment designed to lean the gases.
At this point, the gases are pushed through a typical baghouse or fabric filter, allowing the collection of particulates and emissions are monitored from the facility’s central control room. Ash produced in the process is also collected and leftover metals are collected for recycling.
This complex operation requires equipment such as boilers, steam turbines, and other equipment related to the waste-to-energy processes. All of these devices and equipment integrate a variety of temperature sensors used for monitoring the dynamics of their ensemble of energy-generating equipment.
The chemical and thermal processes involved in waste-to-energy generation generate heat and pressure that must be measured accurately and precisely, allowing a renewable energy power plant to maintain a safe and effective operation.
Temp-Pro has been serving the needs of waste management and power generation facilities for over 40 years, allowing the company to develop some of the most sophisticated temperature measurement devices in the energy industry—and continues to do so in the renewables sector.
